About the event

Join us for an informal musical discussion led by Lizzie Holyoak. Together we will explore the solo piano transcription by Vally Lasker of Vaughan Williams’ London Symphony, which will feature in Duncan Honeybourne’s piano recital at the Music Centre on 14 June.

How can a vast orchestral symphony be transformed into a work for solo piano? What must be left out, and how can the essence of the symphony be preserved? We will consider the challenges involved and share our thoughts and perspectives.

There is no charge to attend, although donations are welcome. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please book a free ticket on here so we know you are coming. Participants will be asked to listen to a performance of the symphony in advance.
