Chopin referred to the damper pedal as “the soul of the piano” and in this workshop we will explore the art of pedalling. We will discuss when it is appropriate to use the pedal. We will look at different pedalling techniques including legato pedalling and half pedalling.

Chopin referred to the damper pedal as “the soul of the piano” and in this workshop we will explore the art of pedalling. We will discuss when it is appropriate to use the pedal. We will look at different pedalling techniques including legato pedalling and half pedalling. We will also explore when pianists might use the una corda or sostenuto pedals.
This workshop will be led by Jonathan Delbridge FRSM, FNCM, LTCL, ALCM, DipMusTh(ICMA). Booking in advance is essential and there are limited spaces available. Tea/coffee will be available before each workshop so feel free to arrive up to 15 minutes early.
